Nonprofit organizations have been around for many years. Most of these organizations devote their resources to causes such as providing health care services, educational services, voluntary welfare and community services, or advocating equality of rights in labor practices.

A nonprofit organization is basically a group that involves itself with the promotion of a particular cause, thereby receiving a significant sum of revenue without providing an equal amount or product or services in return. These organizations do not gain directly from their efforts, because they do not hold ownership in the process of revenue-making, much unlike corporations or businesses.
